Halloween party #2

We had another fun party on Saturday night at our place with some JWU students. And it was another fun fun party. There was bobbing for apples, pumpkin carving, games and one of our students, Setlar, didn't stop frying things until the rain came... and even that wouldn't stop him. He continued his culinary pursuits in the kitchen with more and more mozzarella sticks and chicken wings.

Halloween party #1

We went to a really fun grown-up costume party, and here are some of the costumes. Everyone did such a good job, and the party was so much fun.Jack and Kate from Lost.

Trick or Treat

Can it be that time of the year already? The time of year when one can simply knock on a neighbor's door and they will open the door and thrust large quantities of candy into your arms. I must tell you it is hard not to love a holiday where you meet people in your neighborhood you might not have known before. You not only meet new people, but everyone is giving away treats. Did I mention that playing dress up is not looked down upon, but rather encouraged on this day? It's really a win win win. So, without further ado I present to you....

Buddies

Not much more can make a Momma happier than watching her babies lovin' on each other. Maggie and Henry are at a really sweet age right now. Sure they have little tiffs here and there, but they really do enjoy one another. Henry is constantly following his big sister around and Maggie is usually very nurturing and motherly towards Henry. He was feeling a little under the weather today, for example, and Maggie started rubbing his back and said "it's okay buddy, we love you." And, then later Maggie was pretending to "sleep" on the living room floor and Henry came and laid his head against hers. My heart just melts during those moments. It almost cancels out the toy snatching entirely...almost.
I plan on re-reading this post when my kids hit early elementary/middle school years and are constantly fighting, like my brother and I did. But, my prayer is and will continue to be that the Lord comes back before adolescence hits.
Our pumpkin this year is the cowardly lion per Maggie's request. We have a wizard of Oz theme going this year all because my sister loaned us her old lion costume (or rather Brodys) for Henry to use. I wanted the kids to match and so I made Maggie a Dorothy dress, and convinced her that there's nothing better than being Dorothy for Halloween. The red sparkly shoes did most of the persuading and have been on Maggie's feet almost every single day since they were purchased.

I promise to post some pictures soon, but until then here is a quick appetizer story about Maggie.

So, the other day we were eating lunch and Maggie wasn't interested in what I had given her. ( I had eaten my lunch, never a problem for me, not sure what hers is...I digress). I started eating some fruit snacks for my "dessert." Maggie said "mommy can I have some of that?" And I told her that she needed to eat her lunch first like me. She looked at me with a very sad and sincere face and said, "mommy are you sharing with me?" Geez, how do you respond to that? Well, to finish the story she did eventually get some fruit snacks and I learned that from now on I will save my fruit snacking for a place far away from my coveting two year old.

Henry turns one!

On Sunday we celebrated Henry's first birthday. My parents and siblings drove up for the day. I was gone almost all weekend and when we returned Henry seemed like such a little boy. His baby days are officially over, he is a genuine toddler. We are so in love with this guy. He is so full of energy, his little face lights up any room. He is in love with his big sister and follows her around everywhere, this is probably the main reason for his early walking. He loves to be in the middle of the action and loves to be tickled. What a blessing he is to us. As he continues to grow our prayer is that he would develop a love for our Saviour and be a man after God's own heart.
