Maggie met a special lady this week, her great grandma! They hit it off smashingly, can't you just see the connection in this picture (and yes Maggie is wearing shorts it was really hot earlier this week)?

Of all the cute clothes Maggie has in her closet, I find that her cutest outfit is her birthday suit.
This is one of my personal favorite cute moments. This picture looks innocent enough right? Well, it was a beautiful tender father daughter bonding moment, when Maggie decided it would be funny (since daddy's nose was so close) to blast him right in the face...if you catch my drift. It was precious, mommy really thought that was funny.

A new friend for me?

Our precious baby girl has grown so much in just one week! Here are some pics to prove it. At her first weight check on monday she had gained 4 ounces! She weighed in at 7 pounds 6 ounces! We go tomorrow for another weight check, but she has been gaining like a champ and we couldn't be prouder. She is such a good baby, she smiles all the time and only cries when she has a basic need...you know poopie diaper, hungry, sleepy, gassy...she has been so easy to read. We feel so blessed with our content little bundle. Hope you blogger folk enjoy our little girl!

Here are a few more random pics...and may I just add that childbirth is a miracle. Maggie's birthday was an incredible day full of exciting yet scary moments, and I stand before you today (as a mother :) and acknowledge that there is indeed a God and He is good! He took us by the hand and lead us through it all (and is still very much doing so). There is no way Tyler and I could have made a baby this beautiful, it is completely a miracle and blessing from the Lord that we have this precious baby girl. Our family has witnessed an incredible act of God! We are thrilled that He has chosen to use us in this new servant role as earthly caregivers of His beautiful daughter. Praise the Lord for our family!

Maggie Update!

No, don't get too excited yet...Maggie has yet to arrive. Monday was Maggie's due date, but as we all know that day has come and gone and no baby. But, this thursday if she still hasn't arrived I will be induced. I am currently 4cm and 70% effaced, so things are looking good, but no contractions yet. We hope she will come on her own, but if not, we're going in after her! Please keep us in your prayers!

the basement

So, last friday the Dirks had a semi-catastrophy, the basement flooded after a big night oh rain fall. Our power went out that night and the next morning I went down to the basement to grab some clothes and wouldn't you know it the carpet was saturated. I had to rush off to work but poor Tyler was stuck with the task of cleaning up, he shop vac'd and borrowed huge fans from the neighbors and put them in the basement with high hopes that the area would dry out in a short while. Well, to make a long story short, it would not dry out, so we called a plumber who in turn switched the sump pump to "on" in the crawl space, which allowed the water to finally drain. I'm still not quite sure what a sump pump does but I am pretty sure it should be on at all times, and now we know. So, in the week following the carpet had to be ripped up because it was ruined and the area had to be dehumidified professionally for several days (it was pretty smelly before this). We are just glad this happened now and not with a new baby in the house. A few other positives are that our plumber had been to our home before in the 60's and knew the area well. He showed us the old gardner's bathroom that is quite antique (and still flushes when the lid is pushed down) in the crawl space. Tyler took some footage of this, he was quite intrigued by it all. And, the plumber told us that Billy Graham used to live a few houses down from us on the corner, which I thought was a neat fact. So, everything is now back in order and on track for the arrival of our new family member to be born any day now! We can't wait!

Last minute touches!

Thanks to Poppa and Grandma for some last minute baby touches. Now, we have a beautifully finished cradle (thanks too to Geordie for the woodwork) and a matching blue bonnet for Maggie's fancy smocked dress.
