one more quick post
I almost forgot that I do have pictures to post! Easters of course... The saturday before Easter we headed to Latta park and enjoyed a church egg hunt. We didn't know how Maggie would react, but she did phenomenally well. She picked up all kinds of eggs and would either hand them to us or actually put them in her basket. She is brilliant.

If you haven't heard already...
We're pregnant with Number two! Yay for babies... Our little one is scheduled to make his or her debut October 7th. I'll go ahead and do the math for you, that makes Maggie and this little Bean 19 months a part. Which, of course means they are destined to be best friends. We are truly excited and are so thankful the Lord has chosen to bless us again in this very special way.
no pictures...so unlike me
Well, I was going to try and post a video of my little one year old's first steps... but alas youtube will have nothing to do with me. So, I shall try and paint a picture of the momentous occassion for you all with words (which is not my strong suit so bare with me). It all started last weekend (i guess now two weekends ago), which was Maggie's first birthday, March 15th to be exact. However, our family chose to celebrate it on the 16th so I (carrie) could head to Alabama for one of my bestest friends in the whole worlds wedding, which took place also on the 15th. I knew from the beginning that I absolutely couldn't miss Emily's wedding, but to be away from my little girl on her first birthday was really really difficult to think about let alone carry through. And, I figured (and many people agreed) that Maggie wouldn't even remember her first birthday so future therapy probably would not be an issue. So, with that in mind and a very important wedding to attend and bridesmaid duties to fulfill I headed to Birmingham Alabama. I had a great time with old college buddies and the wedding festivities were fabulous and the bride absolutely beautiful. (Here is where the first steps enter into our story) So I call home friday night to check in with the fam. Keep in mind I have been away less than 24 hours at this point. And what does Tyler report to me other than our little girl has taken her first steps without any assistance that very afternoon. That's right the same little girl that I help practice this same exercise every day with has decided that now, now that Mom is out of the house, now is the time to set her feet free. Of course I was/am thrilled that she walked, but I must admit, I was sad that I didn't get to see her first steps myself. (Remember I'm still on the phone and the stories not over) Tyler my wonderful husband then tells me not to worry he actually got the whole thing on tape! And, while I would have preferred to be there in person to see her first steps it is so great that I can actually see her first steps (and so can she someday) on tape. And, you can too someday if YouTube will ever show me some love. So, I come home sunday, we have a fabulous first birthday party with family and friends and Maggie did some major walking shows for us to enjoy that evening and all is well for this poor mothers soul. The moral to the story is this: If you want your child to accomplish any major feat, just leave even if it is their birthday.

One Fun!!!
Our sweet baby girl turned one last saturday, and I truly can't believe a whole year has already gone by. She has been such a joy to us and we can't imagine our lives without her sweet smile, bubbly laugh and constant energy. We are so thankful the Lord chose us to watch over and parent her, what a blessing. Our continued prayer for her is that she would grow up in the knowledge of God's grace and love for His children, and that she would choose to follow Him with her whole heart and live a life as an obedient servant to her King. We love you so much Maggie Grace...Happy Birthday!
Does this look like a one year old or what? She just blossomed over night ;)
I had to throw this pic in bc it marks a very funny moment. The other night we decided to grill out and Maggie helped Tyler with the grill. Every time he opened the grill lid she made this face (and yes so did Tyler). It really made us laugh. This is about the fifth time she made this face when Tyler opened the grill. The girl really likes steak. P.S Thanks Corrie for the head bands.
Okay onto the birthday party. Here is Maggie enjoying her chocolate cake. Yum Yum...
We had a lot of fun with friends at Maggie's party, especially when we played outside with bubbles. Celia and Bennett were professional bubble poppers.
Sam felt like popping bubbles was pretty good exercise, but Pilates was even betteer, so he led a few of us in some exercises. Thanks Sam you really made us sweat.
ANd the party fun continues!!!
As an extra special birthday treat Grams, Grandpa and Aunt Melodee came into town for the week. So, we headed to the Billy Graham library. This is fast becoming one of my favorite things to do with out of town guests.
Grams is a really good storybook reader.
We love you guys and we are so glad you could come for this special occassion. And, as many of you may know this was almost not possible. A little over a month ago Grandpa had quadruple bypass surgery and he is recuperating like a champ. Some Grandpas might get slowed down by something like this, but not this one..celebrating his granddaughter's first birthday is certainly a priority. BUt, seriously we thank the Lord for healing Grandpa and allowing him (and of course Grams and Aunt Melodee) to come and be with us this week.

pre-birthday weekend!
Last weekend Maggie celebrated her first birthday with Carrie's side of the family in Columbia. Grandmas and great grandmas, one poppa, a great aunt and uncle and more uncles, aunts and even distant cousins were in attendance for the big event. (Disclaimer: Maggie doesn't actually turn one until this saturday the 15th, however the timing worked better to celebrate a little bit last weekend but don't worry we'll celebrate this weekend too) It was so nice to see so many people come and love on our sweet Maggie Grace! Here are a few pictures from the weekend festivities.
The weekend started out with the cousin rock off. The rules are this: each cousin must sit in a pink or blue rocking chair (dependent on gender) and rock before one or both fall off or jump off. And, faces must be kept absolutely serious with only the left arm holding onto the arm of the chair. A pre-party game if you will. Oh and clothing must coordinate with chairs. Oh and both participants must be absolutely adorable..check ..check...check!
Brody won the big game, but no hard feelings on Maggie's part, she even felt obliged to show little Brody where his nose was. As the winner she felt it was only fair that he know this important information that has been passed down to her from older generations.
Maggie received some wonderful birthday gifts last weekend, this is one of her favorites, a new wagon. She must have circled the basketball court in my parent's backyard for at least half an hour. (with her princess crown on of course)
This picture was too funny not to put in this entry. I think Maggie looks like an old woman in this picture...a very cute old woman mind you. Well, I guess she is almost a one year old.

And, this is Maggie's first birthday cake made by her very own great grandma. She really liked the chocolate bunny on top and the marshmallows around the base of the cake.
This is the big moment...the first bite of birthday cake! One bite in and then total meltdown time and then off to bed. Don't worry we'll try again this weekend.
