Cousins!

I'd like everyone to meet our new nephew/cousin! We are so excited to finally know that Maggie will have a boy cousin! Here he is sucking on his finger, this is a sure sign that he and Maggie will get along great, because that just happens to be one of Maggies favorite hobbies too! Inutero and oh so adorable! "Before I was born the Lord called me; from birth He has made mention of my name!"( Isaiah 49:1) How exciting to know that the Lord already knows this new little man intimately and perfectly! We can't wait to meet you too Glenn Peter Zaepfel Tyler JR (name is only a joke just to clarify).

This has been one busy week! Saturday morning the Junkin family (minus David) flew in from Texas, followed by Aunt Melodee in the evening. The Junkins stayed for one night while Melodee is currently with us and will be here with us until saturday. We had a great time and Maggie got to meet her second cousins once removed (or something like that, my 1st cousins), and her Aunt Melodee all in one fun filled weekend. We went to the Latta Park fountains and grilled out on saturday, and we did have one minor injury (which is bound to happen with so much excitement). Poor Will hit his head on the coffee table and bruised his ear, which I didn't know was possible. So, I played nurse and jimmy rigged an ice pack to his head. Then Sunday we celebrated Tyler's first father's day! We were unable to do breakfast in bed because Tyler preached at our church that morning, but we had a grand blueberry and chocolate chip pancake feast for lunch. The fun doesn't end there folks, on monday we headed to Columbia for a surprise birthday party for Grandma and had a blast there too! Now we are home and Maggie is focusing on the art of spoilage thanks to Aunt Melodee or Melvin as we like to call her.

Here are a few pics of some of Maggie's exercise routines throughout her days. Maggie tries to mix up her routine so that things don't get boring, and as you can see it is very hard to get bored with such amusements as the boppy and the bumbo (which are two hot items, both fun to use and say). While Maggie is getting stronger during ab/neck/glut. workouts, she still can only stomach 4 sets of 5 minute "tummy times" a day. And, you can already see the muscles bulging through the baby fat.

Correction

The May 23rd blog post I incorrectly posted that Tyler was a master of theology but technically he is a master of Divinity. I apologize for the confusion. Although, I think he has mastered them both (not really... only joking..always more one can learn). But, I hope to convey that I am thoroughly proud of my husbands accomplishment!
Tyler must now wear a rubber band around his head so as not to lose all the knowledge he has gained over these past three years.

Back to Work!

Well, June 7th had to come sometime, and so it did yesterday. The day I returned to work, the go live day if you will, and all the bottle-feeding training paid off, because Maggie had a great day with dad. So, good in fact that last night she slept 9 whole hours. I think she was a tad exhausted from all the fun she had with dad. And, surprisingly my day in the OR wasn't too bad. It was a good lesson for me too, because I learned that Maggie can indeed survive without me. I will never be her all in all, only Jesus can fill that role for her.

Super Blog!

This has been an incredible week with much to be posted, so I will start with the most exciting news of course! Tyler is a Master of theology, that's right Reformed Theological Seminary has given him an official document stating just that, or rather that he has earned his Masters, either way he's brilliant. What a journey these past three years have been. The Lord has been so faithful during these past years. He has provided again and again for our family financially, physically, spiritually and in most every way one can imagine and ways we can't. We came to Charlotte as newlyweds three years ago, jobless, pretty much moneyless and friendless. But, that changed as the Lord quickly delivered a great job for me and led us to an amazing church family right away. He also allowed us to gain such an amazing group of Charlottean friends through various avenues. I remember the first weeks or so that we were here and we knew we were supposed to be here, but still had no clue how we were going to pay for seminary or really what we were doing. So, we prayed about it and almost immediately the Lord provided tuition and has continued to provide in amazing ways. He is so faithful if we listen to His call on our lives. There is no doubt in my mind that the Lord has worked miraculously in our family and that he will continue to do that. Finishing seminary is such a reminder of that to me. So, yeah (or is it Yah) for Tyler, and for our family, we have come such a long way in these three short years. The happy little fam!
Here is the family, Tyler's Kansas family would have LOVED to have come but with the birth of a new baby, ordination, graduation, moving, and baptism in the not so distant future they had to choose, and since ordination will incompass graduation too they will be visiting us then. We sure missed them and are truly thankful for all the tremendous support they have shown us these past three years (and always)! We only wish Kansas was closer.

Right after graduation we went to a picnic honoring Tyler and a few other of his best buds and their families. That was a lot of fun and the weather was beautiful, then we were off to a week at Isle of Palms! We had a great time, and got to spend some quality time with our family. We had great babysitting options too so Tyler and I got some great beach time in just the two of us. Maggie was such a good baby all week. She was like super baby. I feel bad about this because I have given my brother and sister a false perception of parenthood. Anyhow, along with getting to see our family we also got to hang out with some friends of ours (planned enounters and unplanned).

We ran into Chuck and Kim Davis randomly at the Spoletto festival in downtown Charleston...this was one of the best surprises of the week! We also got to spend a day on the beach with them, and Maggie was diagnosed with contact dermatitis by Dr. Chuck (which relieved mommy bc the cure was simply hydrocortisone cream) And, we found out some very exciting news about the Davis familiy...they are expecting!
Maggie loved the beach when Mommy would allow the sun to see her (which was about three times...twice before 6am) This is Maggie's Michael Jordan impression, she's really mastered it don't you think?
Interesting side story: over the course of the week this house was sawed in two and moved one block down the street, giving us a clear ocean view.

Paige comes for a visit. The Purdy family showed up for a brief visit too, but unfortunately I wasn't quick with the photography. They were celebrating five years of marriage...congrats Matt and Kristen!
Uncle Peter and Aunt Megan have some Maggie time. We are happy to have Aunt Megan with us because it seems she is a prime shark target. That's right you read that correctly, Megan was wading in knee high water when a shark swam about five feet away from her, needless to say Megan understands the story of Peter better now that she too has walked on water. (or rather run)
And, our final adventure was saturday, a day at the aquarium with Poppa and Grandma. Maggie loved the fish tanks and couldn't take her eyes off all the fish swimming by, this picture is sort of dim, but just look at her face.
